Reiki Meditation
 
This reiki meditation is a nice way to start the day. Before the rest of the house wakes up, find a comfortable place to sit. 
 
Place your hands together in front of and close to your heart. Take a deep breath. Breathe deeply into your diaphragm and exhale through your mouth. Determine your own pace. Listen to your body and feel the oxygen nourish you. Exhale, shedding all that your body is ready to let go of. Say to yourself:

Just for today, I will not worry.

Just for today I will not be angry.

Just for today, I will work from the heart.

Just for today, I will be kind to everything that has life.

Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.


Bring your focus back to your breath.

Imagine the top of your head opening to the heavens. To the vast, colorful universe that exists above and beyond us. Invite in a beautiful golden light. Let it flow through your crown and guide it all the way down your body. Pause wherever you feel you need extra attention. Continue until it flows from your toes. Continue to imagine this healing light flowing through your body, nourishing every cell, and releasing anything that you are ready to let go of. When you are finished, gently close your crown and give thanks for the vast love that nourishes us all.

Tapping into our natural abilities to alleviate stress and anxiety is a primary function of reiki. Through very gentle touch, the body is guided to a more peaceful and relaxed state where energetic flow is restored and the mind is calmed.
